Sessions

Free Initial Consultation
I offer a free 30-minute phone or video call to discuss your challenges and see if working together feels like the right fit - with no obligation. I encourage speaking to a few professionals before deciding who to work with - feeling comfortable and understood is just as important as the experience and expertise of the professional. We naturally connect better with some people than others, which can support or hinder your progress.

During the 30-minute consultation, we’ll discuss your difficulties, goals and what you’d like to achieve through our sessions. You’ll also have the chance to ask questions and get a sense of my style. If we both feel it’s a good fit, we can arrange a full 60-minute initial session where we’ll clarify your priorities, set goals, and agree on the next steps. There is no pressure. You’re in control of how often we meet and what pace works best for you.

What’s the difference between coaching and therapy/counselling?

Q: How is coaching different from therapy or counselling?
A: Coaching is future-focused and action-oriented. It’s about clarifying where you want to go, setting meaningful goals, and building practical steps to get there. Therapy and counselling, on the other hand, often focus on understanding and healing from the past to improve your present wellbeing.

Q: Can coaching help with mental health difficulties like anxiety, depression, or trauma?
A: Coaching is not a replacement for therapy, counselling, or medical support. If you’re experiencing ongoing mental health challenges, you may find therapy or counselling more suitable. Coaching can, however, work alongside other forms of support - helping you find balance, build resilience, and take positive steps forward.

Q: So who is coaching for?
A: Coaching is for anyone who feels stuck, uncertain, or at a crossroads. You might be juggling many responsibilities, experiencing stress or the early signs of burnout, or simply wanting more clarity, balance, and fulfilment in your life. Coaching provides a supportive, non-judgemental space to reflect and make changes at your own pace.

Q: How do I know which one I need?
A: A simple way to think about it is:

  • If you want support to heal, process, or work through emotional pain or past experiences, therapy/counselling is the right fit.

  • If you want to focus on the present and future - setting goals, finding direction, and making practical changes, coaching may be the best option.

Disclaimer

Coaching is not therapy or counselling, and it is not a substitute for professional mental health care. If you are experiencing significant emotional distress, mental health difficulties, or feel unsafe, it’s important to seek support from a qualified therapist, counsellor, or healthcare professional. My role as a coach is to support you in gaining clarity and moving forward, but if I feel your needs may be beyond the scope of coaching and better served by another form of support, with full transparency I will recommend we pause and I will offer signposting information to relevant services or resources.
